The Center for Advanced Research on Emerging Technologies (CARET) seeks to identify and develop practical cybersecurity solutions for individuals and organizations with limited budgets and knowledge of computers. On-going research efforts are underway to study the needs and vulnerabilities of government contractors, healthcare organizations, and schools. The impact of CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, and other cybersecurity requirements on small to mid-sized government contractors is an area of special focus.
